Almost on a daily basis in the forums I see people asking the same question. How do I get AdSense account approval. Of course the question is asked in many different ways but typically this is the gist of it.

I hope to be able to help some people out by explaining exactly how myself and many others have gotten approved very quickly. What I am about to show you is no secret. In fact I am sure I have read the answer in the forums before.

There is nothing illegal, nothing immoral or nothing tricky. All it will take is a few hours of effort and most of you will be off to the races with your new AdSense account.

I don't believe this Hub will be very long but it will be straight forward and to the point. So lets move on with how you can get AdSense account approval.

AdSense Account Approval-Don't Kid Yourself

The first thing you need to know is even with AdSense account approval that does not guarantee you will make money. It takes a lot more than just writing a few Hubs to start seeing any real AdSense earnings.

The effort required is a lot of work. You need to set out and understand that it takes time. I see many people on Hubpages write a few Hubs and then 2 days later they are in the forums asking why they are not making money. I'm not sure why this is because there is nothing really misleading in Hubpages TOS but I think it's just that people do not read the terms of service.

So never the less you need to be prepared to put in a huge amount of work which will include learning SEO, keywords, article writing and so forth. I wish it was just as easy as throwing up a couple of Blogger blogs, Wordpress blogs or even Hubs and just sitting back and collecting the cheques.

A couple more steps and words of wisdom and I will give you my recipe for getting your AdSense account approval.

After you get your AdSense account approval you will be searching for bigger and better ways to make money with AdSense. First of all it is so important that you read the Terms Of Service when it comes to Google AdSense. You need to read it and read it again until you understand it. If you learn nothing from this Hub please learn this one thing.

I am here to tell you there is good money to be made if you are willing to put in the effort. My partner and I have never seen 5 figures but around Christmas we do see high 4 figure checks and lower 4 figure checks the rest of the year. Every penny and click is earned through hard work and no real secrets. Okay next part is about AdSense Account Approval.

AdSense Account Approval-Getting Approved

Well I guess it is time to tell you what works almost all the time when it comes to AdSense account approval. Almost all of you are making a mistake by building a Hub or two and then applying for AdSense. You will almost always get denied. The odd one will get through but most won't.

The way I tell people to almost always get accepted is to build a Blogger blog before applying. Now you do need to put in just a bit of effort and time before you apply but almost always you will get accepted. Out of the last 10 people I suggested this to 9 were accepted within 24 hours of applying.

You do need to pick a certain niche that you are going to build a blog on. Once you do pick the niche you need to write at least 4 or 5 quality, original articles for the blog. Then you need to post the articles to the blog. Please make sure they are your own writing or else you will not get accepted.

Once you have the blog built and the articles posted you can then apply to AdSense. In almost all cases you will get accepted and then you can use your AdSense code on HubPages or any where you want.

I know this sounds too good to be true and way too easy but it really does work. I know there are certain countries that make you wait 6 months and so on but even in many cases people from these countries that apply using this method get accepted within 24 hours. It really is a little effort for a big gain in the end.

By saying you shouldn't apply using Hubs in no way puts down the value of HubPages because in all honesty it is now one of my best tools for my affiliate marketing. I am just saying that through experience I have found that applying using Blogger makes things move that much faster so you can start making money with HubPages. So get to work and get your Blogger blog built so you can get Adsense Account Approval.

Increase Adsense Earnings By Making Channels Targetable

After a fairly long absence from blogging, I’ve been working behind the scenes to tidy up my sites so that I can start posting again. I had so much admin to do and emails to reply to, that’s it taken me a week to write my first post!

One email that had lain unread for a long time was one from my adsense rep asking me to add targeting to my google adsense units. My rep recommended that I do this for my more adsense units with higher CTRs, so that advertisers could target their ads to these ad units rather than units performing more poorly.

You can make one of your existing custom channels into a targetable ad placement by following these steps:

1. Log into your account at http://www.google.com/adsense
2. Under the AdSense Setup tab, visit the Channels page
3. Under the ‘AdSense for content’ subtab, make sure you’ve selected custom channels.
4. Click the radio button next to the channel you’d like to make targetable, then click the corresponding ‘edit channel’ link.
5. Click the checkbox marked ‘Show this channel to advertisers as an ad placement’ and fill out the relevant fields plus a description for your channel. Keep in mind that advertisers will see the external name and description, so you want to provide something accurate and informative.
6. Click ‘Save channel’.

Advertisers will now be able to target your ad placement. Keep in mind that if your placement spans across several websites, advertisers will see it split up into a separate ad placement for each site. Please also be aware that if you change the placement name in the future, you’ll lose any existing advertiser bids for that placement.

AdSense have added a new ‘Allowed Sites' feature to the back end of their system for publishers to use. By using this feature publishers have more control over their Adsense accounts.

To use this feature logging into your AdSense account and click on AdSense Setup and then the Allowed Sites and choose the radio button (Only allow certain sites to show ads for my account).

Allowed sites are sites or URLs on which AdSense publishers allow or wish to have their Google ads displayed. If a URL displaying your AdSense ad code is not on your Allowed Sites list, ads will still be displayed, but impressions and clicks won't be recorded, advertisers won't be charged, and you won't receive any earnings for that URL.

One of the really cool things about Google's Adsense program is that it's really easy to implement on your sites. The only hard part is getting an account. I'm not sure if you can do it if your only pages are Hubs. Anyone care to comment on that?

So you'll need a website, but for that you can put up a blogger.com blog with some halfway decent content and you'll be good. Fast and easy, that.

Optimizing the Google Ads (Adsense) on your pages is pretty trivial, but let me do some background stuff first, then I'll talk about the ads.

Adsense comes from Google's Adwords program. Do a search on google for just about anything and yoiu'll see those ads along the right side of the page, and probably a few at the top. Yahoo, MSN, and othes have very similar programs.

These are Google's Adwords. The advertiser makes an account, makes an ad, defines the page that the ad points to, and defines how much she's willing to pay everytime someone clicks that ad.

So if you want put up an Adwords ad to your Rottwelier Leash Training page you'll have to figure out how much each visitor is worth and base your ad pricing accordingly.

So the price isn't based on how many times your ad appears. If no one ever clicks your ad you'll pay nothing. Only when your ad is clicked does your credit card feel it.

Now, if you want your ad to appear at the top of the list you have to pay more money than the other guy, per click, and/or you have to create an ad that gets more clicks. Google rewards good ads with better placement.

So a hot adwriter will get her ads placed much higher on the page, for a lower cost, than the average Joe will be able to manage,

Now that Adsense does is pull from that pool of Adwords. You log into your Adsense account, fill in a few blanks, grab a code, and stick it on your page.

Google will scan your page, take a best guess as to the theme of that page, and pull from the Adwords ad pool and put matching ads on your page. This is why most of the adsense you see on most pages is a pretty tight match for the content of that page.

So how do we get paid?

Google does a revenue share with it's Adsense partners. If you put up a page on dog training and put the adsense code there then you'll see dog training related ads. If Joe is paying 50 cents a click for his dog training ads then you will get some portion of that 50 cents when someone click the ad on your page.

How much of the 50 cents? It's not a straight percentage. There are a lot of factors that go into that calculation, including the quality of traffic, If your page sends better traffic to Joe's site then your get paid more for those adsense clicks. This is an incentive to write high quality pages around your adsense ads.

Once upon a time there was qutie the little market for software which woiuld put up junk pages, many junk pages, stuffed with keywords, for the sole intention of getting the adsense clicks.These programs could spin out thousands of pages, none of which had value to the user. You land on that page and your choice was to hit the back button or click an ad.

They worked very well for awhile, but Google has pretty much stomped them out. They're not dead, but it takes a lot more work these days to make money with that type of site these days.

Put up a quality site/page and the percentage revenue share you get from the clicks will be higher than that from the junk pages.

Adsense really is simple to optimize. That's one of it's most appealing features. It's easy to use. Heck, if you have an adsense account and all you do is write Hubs you don't have to do a thing. That said, there are some things that you can do.

Google can't read images. If your page is nothing but pictures, the G will be unable to accurately target your ads. You have to have some text there.

Google can read filenames and page titles, though.

So if someone looks at your page, with all images turned off and just the filenames showing, and they can immediately define the topic of the page, then Google will have no problems doing the same.

Add your keywords. If you're doing a page on Rottwelier Leash Training then that phrase shold be in your page title and also in your page, along with as many related terms as will easily fit into your page content.

The Google Ads that appear will then be tightly targeted to your page content.

Ad placement: Assuming you can control where you place your ads (and you can't on your Hubs) you want to place them where people's eyes will naturally track. Westerners, reading from top left to bottom right, will track a web page in a similar manner. If your ads follow this pattern then they'll be seen more and be clicked more.

People's who read from the top right will be better served with a different pattern. Google actually provides a "recommended ad placement" guide in its Adsens FAQ's.

Thing to Look Out For

If you take a look at your typical Hub you'll see a lot of stuff on the page that isn't yours. Google's adsense scanner reads it anyway and if the Hubstuff doesn't match your stuff then the ads might be off.

How to fix it? Put good titles on yoiur modules and put enough content into your page or your Hub to dominate over any surrounding text.

So I'll guess that the ads surrounding this hub will be tightly related to Adsense and Adwords, just because I'm writing enough to dominate over the surrounding page template.

What if your ads just aren't showing?

Google's system might take awhile to hit your page, depending on a variety of factors. Ads on a Hub will typically appear quickly, since Google sends a lot of scans to Hubpages.com. For a new site, which G doesn't know about yet, it may take a few days for good ads to reliably appear.

You can speed up the process by getting good links iinto youir pages. How to do that? Well, that's another Hub, but one way is to write Hubs and link back to your pages.

The above covers the basics of adsence optimization. If you have complete control over your pages, meaning you can place ads anywhere you like, then you can play with things like ad colors, size of the ad blocks, exact placement, and so on.

If you don't have that control, such as on your Hubs or Lenses, then make sure you put a lot of good keywords on the page so that the Google's system know which ads to place.

When this particular site got ranked in Google (within the first week of publishing it online) I began to average around 100 visitors a day. But the thing that surprised me most was my clickthrough rate (CTR) which is usually under 3% on average, had increased tenfold! (By the way, I now intend to improve the results for my larger site by using the same simple tips and techniques which I used on the smaller site, and which I have listed below if you care to try them out)

This new site by the way was averaging around $4 a day in the first month. Not a huge amount I know, but another 20 or 30 sites like it will probably double, if not triple my current AdSense income.

Just remember, the nice thing about earning money with Google AdSense is that once you have your site up and running, and hopefully well ranked for your chosen keyword/phrases, any earnings you make from Adsense can provide you with an ongoing passive income. 5. If possible, include your chosen keyword/phrase in the domain name of your website, or at least include them in one or more of your page names.

The next 5 tips are important to improve your clickthrough rate.

6. Keep your page content reasonably short and your AdSense ads 'above the fold' so visitors don't lose site of the ads. If your visitor has to scroll down the page then make sure you have another ad showing at the end of the article.

7. Try to avoid using bright backgrounds and garish colored text. Make your AdSense ads subtle so they don't stand out too much from the rest of the page.

8. Text ads work better than image ads, so I usually avoid the option to provide text or images. I suggest you do too.

9. A large rectangle ad (336x280) is known to bring the best CTR but it pays to test out different sizes and different positions on your web page to see which ones work best for your particular page design.

This last tip is probably the most important one I have found to improve your clickthrough rate, and thus increase your AdSense earnings.

10. Avoid having other links on the page!

(apart from the menu links of your website)

Also, make sure your site includes a site map to all pages.

  First thing you need to do is "Read the Google Adsense Program Policy". I cannot emphasize this enough. Make sure you read the guidelines thoroughly and then follow them religiously. Google does not allow certain content including sexual content, crude language etc. Avoid such content at all costs. Read the policies and follow them.

• More often than not, we noticed that this failure had nothing to do with the
  competition that we faced in that market.
  
• In fact, there were some markets that were very competitive in which we achieved very high rankings. Then, for some reason, there were other markets that should have been a snap for us to profit in that did not pan out at all.
  
• There were times when we couldn’t even make the top 10 for a single keyword! So that's when we decided to employ a new methodology.
  
• It's simple: throw enough out there and something will hit the target. And it works. After using this rather simple method and seeing the results, we no longer care if a market appears to be quality market or not.
  
• Our results proved to us, at least, that if we go into 10 markets, we can usually expect 2 or 3 of them to turn out to be profitable winners.
  
• Once we understood that this method, while simple, returned good results, we continued to use it.
  
• We would put in another ten markets per week, and over time, by doing that, week after week, we eventually built a huge network of sites, in hundreds of different markets, all of them profitable.
• Now, you can follow our suggestion and do what we have been doing or you can work yourself to death trying to find those few “perfect” markets, which, as far as we are concerned, actually change one week from the next.
  
• Our method takes work. There is no way around that truism. But we have some
